Fleet East

John Gawthorpe for Fleet East

"I want to ensure that the benefits of living in Hart are shared by all its inhabitants, not least the vulnerable and the disabled."

John has grey hair and wears glasses. He is sitting at a table, smiling.

A long-time local, John spent 31 years as a Deputy and Head Teacher in Hart schools. His natural enthusiasm, combined with his mediation skills, have served him well as an active member of the NUT. With a decade under his belt as a lead negotiator for teachers’ unions in Hampshire, he now supports fair outcomes for others as a caseworker. Building strong community ties are also his top priority; he is a founder member of Aldershot's West End Centre and Camberley Jobs Club, as well as chairing sports teams for our young Fleet footballers. John is dedicated to access to public services and learning opportunities for all residents.
