How to meet our planning quota

There's only one sensible way to reach our building target...winchfield_station.jpg

We in the Labour Party believe that everyone should have the opportunity to own their own home. We are also in favour of sensible development, building houses responsibly, with Truly Affordable houses included in the planning of projects from the very start.

We are strongly not in favour of constant small-scale “bolt on” developments, as these ill-considered expansions of existing towns and villages put tremendous pressures on our schools, surgeries, roads and sanitation.

The proposed development of Winchfield gives us the perfect opportunity to do something special, that can leave a sustainable legacy for the future of our area. With the creation of a new town comes crucial funding that can be used to build all of the infrastructure that would be required, as well as presenting us with a golden chance to incorporate Truly Affordable Houses and Social Housing into the plans from a very early stage.

This is the mandate that any elected Labour Councillors would work on, ensuring that the creation Winchfield Town will go ahead under our terms, and not to solely massage the profits of the developers.

Does the recent announcement of the proposal to redevelop Pyestock (aka Hartland Park) into 1,500 homes alter your position on the Winchfield New Town? And does the report commissioned by Winchfield Parish Council that shows the new town is neither necessary or viable alter your position at all?
