for Odiham and Hook

I am a married, former actress who was brought up and educated locally. I travelled and worked away before returning home, to Hook, to bring up my children. I retrained in law, working as a legal executive, and then as a Drama and English teacher. I feel passionately about Hampshire, our area and its community.
My sons have, and continue to attend local schools and I also teach in Hampshire. Every child deserves a broad and enriching education at a good school. I joined the Labour Party because I believe in opportunities for all, with resources distributed fairly and school places funded to support each child. Every child matters.
As with education, health and social care should be for all who need it and, for me, support for the most vulnerable in our community reflects a philosophy that prioritises people and looks to the future. We need to face the challenges in health and social care funding today to preserve a health service which can meet our needs tomorrow. Local transport links also need to reflect a growing population in Hampshire and should not be disappearing. Public transport could be supporting the growth of local business, helping build opportunities and linking our communities.
We are privileged to live in such a beautiful county, and the heart of Hampshire is its people. With Labour, I believe fairness and opportunity would be the priority for every one of those people.
